 KingFisher's Diffuser - the "Transformer" model KF MFD-MFT2021

This "Transformer" is one of my favorite macro diffuser design, I have been using it for all my macro photos since 2011.

In 2021, I decided to reveal this "transformer" design after my "Explorer" sharing receive many inquiries.

This "Transformer" still adapted my precious horse-shoe shaped design, in addition, I equipped it with a pair of one hand operated top and bottom reflectors for more creative lighting. As the old version, bottom reflector is attached onto the diffuser body, it has to be removed from the top of diffuser and attached to the bottom of diffuser when necessary. It takes time and I have to stop shooting in order to remove and attach again the bottom reflector.

But with the new design, I can just retrieve the top and bottom reflectors using my single hand! It is quick and easy. In addition,  the top and bottom reflectors can be placed at any position as desired for more creative lighting effects.

KingFisher Diffusers Sharing - The Explorer

For the past 10 years, I have been designing and making flash diffusers for macro photography.

In year 2011, I came out with a diffuser which was designed for camera built-in flash as shown in the image below.

The lighting results were good， let me show you few images taken using this diffuser.

Recently, I decided to re-design this diffuser to be used on an external flash. My mission is simple, to make this diffuser from just two pieces of PP sheet.

"Minimum physical diffuser size with maximum apparent light size, relatively"

In year 2021, I have redesigned my macro diffusers, making it more compact and easy to move around while shooting macro on the field but yet produce a large apparent light size, relatively. Thus, KF MFD-MFT2021 (for M4/3) and KF MFD-DSLR2021(for DLSR) have been created, made from durable black Polypropylene sheet as main body and white Polypropylene sheet as diffuse layer. It is mounted onto an external speedlite on top of the camera using Velco fastener. 

In addition, I have incorporated the world's first One Hand Operated Reflectors System onto these models, they are easy to operate, effective and increase the efficiency of the flash light. 

Model KF MFD-MFT2021 (for M4/3, Godox TT350/Nissin i40, 50mm/60mm/65mm macro lens)

Model KF MFD-DSLR2021 (for APS-C or FX, Godox V860 or similar, 90mm/100mm/105mm macro lens)

A LED focus assist light has also been introduced, it is very helpful when shooting at low light conditions or night macro. This LED system weighs only 20 grams, includes 2 pieces of CR2032 batteries. it can last for about 10 hours.

LATEST UPDATE! The LED focus assist light has been upgraded! Which now is powered using a a rechargeable power bank (single 18650 battery).

The overall diffuser weight is about 150 grams only, includes batteries. Whereas with a power bank, about 350 grams only, includes a 18650 rechargeable battery.
